Since the minister of state for environment has temporarily withheld the go ahead for the Bt Brinjal (after we all contributed brinjals for the world's biggest Baingan Bharta), here's a video that will damn the whole genetically modified crop lobby. It's already causing havoc among cotton growers who have purchased the company's Bt Cotton, leading to mayhem, crop loss, hybridisation of seeds, and, still more traumatically, suicides. Bt Brinjals will start a new chapter in genetically modified crops in India which cannot be forestalled at a later stage. So it's imperative action be taken now.
